We’re always looking for answers to every question. But isn’t it more fun and exciting not to be sure sometimes? After all, the world is a strange place!
Baaaard is a visually rich and humorous performance exploring the theme of doubt. The show contains no spoken text, making it accessible regardless of language.
Just when you’ve learned that birds have wings to fly, it turns out some birds can’t fly at all. The rules keep changing as you grow up. So how do you find your way? Confusion leads to doubt, but it also leads to using your imagination, to take action, and to have fun. The theatrical performance Baaaard is a tribute to the joy of searching and discovering, about the power of the imagination that begins when not everything is clear.
Hipsters, lumberjacks, wizards, Santa Claus, the bearded lady, and pirates: in Baaaard, a wild parade of bearded archetypes passes by, where anything is possible. A wordless performance that sparks wonder and curiosity in everyone who wants to know what’s hiding behind those beards.
A growing beard on stage opens up worlds that constantly change. In Baaaard, bearded characters move through all kinds of familiar yet illogical situations. Just when they think they understand the world around them, everything is turned upside down and they have to start all over again. With curiosity, they journey through a series of colorful, sometimes baffling, but always fascinating bearded worlds.
The performance Baaaard is created by Milan Boele van Hensbroek, who previously made Blablablaf with STIP—a philosophical theatrical installation where children could share their thoughts with a small dog.
