Cinetree’s Forest Filmfestival is back! From Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th August you can enjoy the most beautiful, funniest and best films in the Amsterdamse Bostheater. On August 16th you can watch the Oscar nominated beautiful true story Lion.

Synopsis

The Indian boy Saroo lives in a small village in India. As a five-year-old boy, he accidentally ends up on a train that takes him thousands of kilometers across India; far from his home and family. Little Saroo has no idea where he is or where he comes from. After weeks of surviving alone on the rough streets of Calcutta, the boy is taken in by an orphanage and eventually adopted by an Australian couple.

Saroo strives hard and becomes a successful student. One evening, Saroo sees jalebi, a fried Indian delicacy, at a friend’s house. He recognizes it from his early childhood. At that moment, all sorts of images from his youth come flooding back. After years, he decides to search for his roots.

Lion is the film adaptation of the bestseller “My Long Walk Home,” featuring an all-star cast including (Oscar winner) Nicole Kidman, (Oscar nominee) Roony Mara, Dev Patel, and David Wenham.
