A theatre festival in the heart of the Amsterdamse Bos

Entrance tickets for Bosfest 2026 are now on sale!

Bosfest takes place from August 11 through August 22, 2026. For two weeks, from Tuesday to Saturday evening. Keep an eye on this website or our social media for the full lineup of performances, the schedule, and the start of ticket sales for the shows.

For ten evenings, Bosfest settles deep in the Amsterdamse Bos. Intimate theatre, hidden among roots and leaves. Here, it challenges, explores, and sharpens everything. Theatre in the broadest sense of the word—raw, intimate, musical, physical, and sometimes uncomfortably close.

Bosfest celebrates its third edition in 2026. You’re allowed to know—but please don’t spread the word. The number of tickets is limited, and we’d like to keep it that way, because Bosfest should remain a hidden gem. No large-scale festival in a manicured park, no red carpet with champagne. This is theatre for those willing to make an effort. Cycle out of the city in search of something you won’t find anywhere else. With the forest not as a backdrop, but as the main character.
You start and end at the Festival Heart of the Bostheater: a place with a spacious terrace, bar, campfire, and food prepared with care. Everything comes together here—before you return to the inhabited world.

Bosfest is made possible in part by Stichting Boslab, the Municipality of Amsterdam, the Municipality of Amstelveen, and the Amsterdamse Bostheater. Read more about Stichting Boslab here.

“Bosfest offers theatre by emerging makers in a pleasant setting: the forest. The forms are highly diverse, ranging from immersive theatre and a pop parody to a traditional peep box.”
— NRC

“The forest as a backdrop remains sublime… Bosfest in the Amsterdamse Bos is an excellent festival for summer evenings.”
— Het Parool

“Small-scale theatre at the atmospheric Bosfest. No fewer than ten different productions can be seen at Bosfest, which supports young theatre makers, and the prices are very audience-friendly.”
