Cinetree’s Forest Festival is back! From Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 August, you can once again enjoy some of the most beautiful, heartwarming, and acclaimed films at the Amsterdam Forest Theatre. On 7 August, we’re screening the Italian box office hit C’è ancora domani (There’s Still Tomorrow).

About the Film

Rome, 1946. As Italy slowly recovers from the Second World War, housewife Delia struggles to keep her family together while living under the control of her abusive husband. When a mysterious letter arrives, she begins to realise that a different life may be within reach. With humour, warmth, and a touch of Italian neorealism, director Paola Cortellesi tells a story set eighty years ago that still feels strikingly relevant today. It’s no surprise that C’è ancora domani (There’s Still Tomorrow) became Italy’s biggest box office success of 2023, even attracting more cinema-goers than Barbie.

Special Programme

On Thursday 7 August, Cinetree is delighted to welcome two exceptional guests: writer, journalist, and programme maker Tatjana Almuli, and singer-songwriter, producer, and performer Lakshmi.

Through her books, journalism, and public talks, Tatjana Almuli explores themes such as emancipation, bodily autonomy, inclusion, representation, and the social norms surrounding body image, gender, and sexuality. Her work examines the impact of beauty standards and other societal expectations on the position and safety of women, while advocating for equal opportunities, equality, and a more inclusive society. Alongside her music career, Lakshmi is an ambassador for Plan International, where she actively campaigns for girls’ rights. She speaks out on issues including sexual violence, gender equality, and the connection between human rights and broader social issues. By combining music, art, and activism, she advocates for a world in which women and girls are safe, have equal opportunities, and are empowered to make their voices heard.

Together, they will discuss the themes explored in the film, followed by a live musical performance by Lakshmi.

*A group ticket admits six people to the film screening. With a group ticket, you receive a total discount of €10. You will receive one ticket for your group, so please make sure everyone arrives and enters the venue together.
