Bosfest 2026 presents

Gelukszoekers

Femi van Elshuis (via Rudolphi)

Vrouw in een hele grote boodschappen tas. In een bos. De tas staat op een picknick tafel.

You’ve got to dare to go looking for happiness. Where birds have been migrating since long before we can remember things, Femi van Elshuis has never been to her mother’s homeland, Suriname. Now she returns to where she comes from. She could really use a holiday.

In a search for hope, Femi takes you on her first journey to Suriname, together with her mother. In this poetic and playful solo performance, Femi goes into the jungle as a real girl, searching for herself.

About the maker

Femi van Elshuis (2001) graduated in 2023 from the Amsterdam School of Arts’ Academy of Theatre and Cabaret. She is an actress, theatre maker, and spoken word artist. Her work is grounded in spoken word and almost always originates from an autobiographical perspective.

In addition to her graduation performance Ik wil wit zijn, she independently created the spoken word collection Femi. As an actress, she has been active since 2022, performing with companies such as Black Sheep Can Fly, DIEHLEDING, Raymi Sambo Maakt, and Het Nationale Theater.

As a maker and performer, she appeared in Het Debuut 2023 by Via Rudolphi Producties and participated in emerging makers’ programs such as Winter Karavaan 2023 and Zaal 4 at De Parade 2025 with Collectief Duo PeThottie.
