Spinoza
A brand-new musical, the NITE way. A story about the courage to think differently — set in and inspired by Amsterdam. Performing exclusively at the Bostheater this summer!
Naaz is a Dutch-Kurdish singer, producer, and writer. Raised in a refugee family, she found an outlet in songwriting from an early age. Many of the lyrics she wrote then are now tattooed on her body, serving as symbols of freedom.
During Bosfest, Naaz will perform an intimate concert among the trees of the Amsterdamse Bos.
Entirely self-taught as a songwriter, producer, and composer, Naaz released her debut project Bits of Naaz from her bedroom. Since then, she has toured Europe four times and become known for her powerful live vocals and intense, energetic, and heartfelt performances. With her unique fusion of English and Kurdish music, Naaz has earned praise from artists such as Elton John and Lana Del Rey.
Her independently released and critically acclaimed debut album Never Have I Ever marked both an artistic and personal rebirth. Her first Kurdish alt-pop single, Azadi, grew into an international anthem for women’s rights, particularly within the MENA diaspora, highlighting the impact of her outspoken voice.
Alongside her musical work, Naaz moves effortlessly between artistic disciplines. She recently composed music for theatre company Orkater, will soon take on a leading role in an opera at the Holland Festival, and is currently working on her debut novel. This cross-pollination between music, theatre, and literature forms the foundation of her strong sense of storytelling and emotional depth, giving her work an intimate and honest perspective.
