NOODKEET

De Leedbewakers

Drie mannen op de foto. Je ziet alleen hun boven lichaam. De ene heeft een vuilniszak aan als pak, de tweede een soort gras pak. De derde man draagt een zonnebril en een pak van alluminiumfolie.

NOODKEET is a hilarious and tender site-specific performance about three doomsday preppers who retreat into a converted construction hut on a vacant lot. They cook on an iron, generate electricity with a bicycle wheel, and live according to their own rules. But while they try to keep the chaos of the outside world out, a question grows: what are they actually preparing for? In their search for freedom, they discover that freedom may be just as frightening as the world they are trying to escape.

NOODKEET is a hilarious and tender site-specific performance about three doomsday preppers adrift in a chaotic world. On a vacant plot of land, self-proclaimed survivors have withdrawn into a converted construction hut, where they cook on an iron, generate electricity using a bicycle wheel, and set their own rules.

But while they try to keep the chaos of the outside world out, a question keeps growing: what are they actually preparing for? And what if… can you ever detach yourself from a system you are inevitably part of? Their refuge, intended as protection, slowly becomes their prison.

In their search for ultimate freedom, that very freedom turns out to be just as frightening as the world they are trying to escape.

The Leedbewakers are Maurits van den Berg, Lisa Groothof, and Len Lucieer. They create physical and absurdist performances full of action, humour, and music in their distinctive poetic visual language. The Leedbewakers were previously featured at Festival Karavaan with KØT.

For NOODKEET, the Leedbewakers collaborate with theatre company Vis à Vis. In 2025, they jointly created the successful theatre spectacle BABY BLUE. Vis à Vis supports NOODKEET and thereby contributes to the development of emerging makers.

ABOUT THE MAKERS

De Leedbewakers

The Leedbewakers are Lisa Groothof, Maurits van den Berg, and Len Lucieer. They create physical and absurdist site-specific theatre and films full of action, humour, and poetry. Their work centres on people trapped in systems they have helped create themselves, who try—with tragicomic persistence—to escape them.

The makers previously built their careers in mime, text theatre, music theatre, and site-specific work, collaborating with companies such as Oostpool, Alamo Race Track, Het Filiaal, BonteHond, Jakop Ahlbom Company, and ISH. Their first joint production, KØT, was performed at festivals and international venues and led to an award-winning film adaptation. In 2025, they created the theatre spectacle BABY BLUE together with Vis à Vis.

Theatergezelschap Vis à Vis

Since 1990, Vis à Vis has explored the boundaries of site-specific theatre across numerous productions, gradually developing a unique form of theatrical spectacle. In 2007, Vis à Vis established itself at its own location at Almeerderstrand. What was once a vacant plot of land was transformed into a welcoming open-air theatre with a restaurant in a festival atmosphere. In its original outdoor venue, Vis à Vis creates a world full of extraordinary possibilities, humour, and surprises.
