How much madness can you get in one show? How many improbable events can you conjure up in your own head?

In Not Quichot, six storytellers commemorate their good friend Q, but who was Q’s best friend? Through powerful stories, they take you on their adventures with Q throughout Europe, through mountains, forests, past farmers’ protests and burning libraries.

Not Quichot is a journey you won’t soon forget. What began at the Boulevard Theatre Festival went on to tour packed theatres across the Netherlands and Belgium, became this year’s Oerol hit and caused a sensation at the Aranya Theatre Festival in China. Now the road trip has reached its final destination: Amsterdam’s Bostheater.

No other duo than writer Joachim Robbrecht and director Sarah Moeremans can so classily drive a classic like Don Quixote into a wall in order to extract the strongest elements from the wreckage.

Not Quichot features English surtitles, as well as an interval that has now become just as much of a hit as the performance itself.

About Het Zuidelijk Toneel

Het Zuidelijk Toneel is the leading theatre company in the south and tours throughout the Netherlands and Flanders from its home town Tilburg. The company’s ensemble of six true performers takes stages of all sizes by storm. They are more likely to be fired up than tamed by the company’s first female artistic director, Sarah Moeremans.

Together with a colourful gang of in-house directors, Het Zuidelijk Toneel creates productions that excite, move and energise you. These include the hit productions Crashtest Ibsen, Shut Up and Play with Me, Holly Goosebumps and F*CK LOLITA, which have become favourites among both the press and the public. For her role in F*CK LOLITA, ensemble member Keja Klaasje Kwestro was recently nominated for a Theo d’Or for Most Impressive Acting Performance in a Leading Role.
