Escape the hustle and bustle and use the forest as a refuge. Step away from the everyday, let go of expectations, and catch your breath. What rises to the surface when we listen to what is usually hidden in the noise?

On the uneven forest floor and against the backdrop of a twilight lake, a literary live show unfolds in which we explore our need for temporary disappearance through poetry, music, and conversation. What are we running from, and where do we find rest in a noisy world?

Poetry Circle hosts five evenings featuring a wide range of writers, poets, musicians, and other makers. We bring together different voices and stories—from celebrated authors to emerging talents—who challenge us to take unexpected turns along familiar paths. Each evening is different. Expect a night like sitting around a campfire, where stories are passed on, the familiar slowly shifts into the unknown, and anything can happen.

About the makers

Poetry Circle is the leading national platform for spoken word and performance poetry in the Netherlands. In nine cities, we host Poetry Circles where emerging spoken word artists can develop their craft under the guidance of experienced coaches. Through a diverse national network of makers, we create and present new productions that bring spoken word to the stage in innovative ways.Recent works include Please, Zawadi by Daniëlle Zawadi, a performance about friendship, growing older, and physics, and Het is niet nieuw by Geoffrey van der Ven, a solo exploring the hidden queer history of Africa. Poetry Circle also initiated Babs’ Woordsalon, where emerging and established artists meet in the salon of spoken word pioneer and founder Babs Gons, Poet Laureate of the Netherlands.Last year, Poetry Circle was featured at Bosfest with BYMEKAAR, a poetic concert with artists from across the national network. This year, different makers from Poetry Circle will again take the stage each evening.
