Bosfest 2026 presents

Poëzie in het Bos

Poetry Circle

Vrouw achter een microfoon met boek in haar hand.

Escape the hustle and bustle and use the forest as a refuge. Step away from the everyday, let go of expectations, and catch your breath. What rises to the surface when we listen to what is usually hidden in the noise?

On the uneven forest floor and against the backdrop of a twilight lake, a literary live show unfolds in which we explore our need for temporary disappearance through poetry, music, and conversation. What are we running from, and where do we find rest in a noisy world?

Poetry Circle hosts five evenings featuring a wide range of writers, poets, musicians, and other makers. We bring together different voices and stories—from celebrated authors to emerging talents—who challenge us to take unexpected turns along familiar paths. Each evening is different. Expect a night like sitting around a campfire, where stories are passed on, the familiar slowly shifts into the unknown, and anything can happen.

Featuring: Ellen Deckwitz, Gershwin Bonevacia, Simone Atangana Bekono, Sinan Çankaya, Sjaan Flikweert, Jasper Albinus, and Steff Geelen.

About the makers

Poetry Circle is the leading national platform for spoken word and performance poetry. In nine cities, we organise Poetry Circles where emerging spoken word artists can develop their talent under the guidance of an experienced coach. With a diverse network of makers, we develop productions such as the spoken word performances Alstublieft, Zawadi by Daniëlle Zawadi, about friendship, growing older, and physics, and Het is niet nieuw, a solo by Geoffrey van der Ven about the hidden queer history of Africa.Poetry Circle also initiated the production Babs’ Woordsalon, in which young and established word artists come together in the salon of spoken word pioneer and Poetry Circle founder Babs Gons (Poet Laureate of the Netherlands).Last year, Poetry Circle was also featured at Bosfest with BYMEKAAR, a poetic concert with musicians and makers from the national Poetry Circle network. This year as well, different makers from the Poetry Circle network will take the stage each evening.
