The Boy and the Heron

Studio Ghibli is a genre in itself. They create animations that are particularly popular among arthouse visitors. Studio Ghibli won an Oscar for Best Animation this year with The Boy and the Heron.

In The Boy and the Heron, twelve-year-old Mahito finds it difficult to feel at home in a new city after the death of his mother. When a talking heron tells him that his mother is still alive, he sets out on an adventure to search for her in a magical world.

For the English spoken version, Robert Pattinson, Christian Bale and Florence Pugh, among others, provided the voice overs. In the Bostheater, however, we will broadcast the original Japanese version, which will transform august 24th into a real Studio Ghibli evening.
